Shiwani Darai is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore. She completed her Developmental Services Worker program in Canada with Honours, developing a strong foundation in child development, communication, behaviour, inclusion, and supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Shiwani’s professional journey has allowed her to work in a variety of settings and support people with different needs. Before coming to Canada, she worked as a Psychiatric Nurse in Nepal, where she gained valuable experience supporting individuals with emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs. In Canada, she gained hands-on experience through social services placements, working with children with diverse abilities and needs. She also supported children through Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), language and communication activities, and functional skills development. In addition, her experience as a Personal Support Worker in a retirement home strengthened her skills in providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care.
Through these experiences, Shiwani discovered that the early childhood sector is where she feels the most joy and fulfillment. She especially enjoys working with young children because of their natural curiosity, creativity, and excitement as they discover the world around them.
Shiwani believes that every child is unique and develops at their own pace. She strives to create an inclusive and supportive environment where children can explore, express themselves, build confidence, and learn through play. She enjoys creating hands-on experiences involving art, music, movement, sensory exploration, and language, making learning meaningful, engaging, and fun.
Her diverse professional background has taught her the importance of patience, empathy, and understanding. Shiwani’s goal is to build positive relationships with children and families and to create an environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging. Being part of children’s early learning, development, and growth brings her great joy and motivates her to make a positive difference in their everyday experiences.
